Will we as respectable humans of the society agree to mass brutality and stay guilt-free if given the chance? ‘The Purge’ is a fascinating take on future American Society that is crime-free but for one annual day known as the ‘The Purge’. ‘The Purge’ has appeased to most through its violent plot and human barbarity. But with the trilogy now coming to an end, the series seems to have gotten tired. However, with the end of the trilogy comes the next best announcement – The Purge Is Getting Its Own TV Series
The Purge Is Getting Its Own TV Series
While we are being forced to hold on to our excitement, it has been confirmed that the TV Series is already in the development stage and will be directed by none other than James DeMonaco, the mastermind behind the Purge series. James DeMonaco recently revealed the possibility of heading to the anthology path with the terrifying TV Series.
“They came to me about a TV show, my idea is that you do six or seven story-lines. And I would kind of intercut them, use flashbacks.”
– James DeMonaco
DeMonaco further shared that the reason behind the TV Series was the idea of exploring the mindsets of the civic citizens and what exactly force them to turn into ruthless purgers. With none of the three movies in the series exploring this path, the TV Series will certainly blend together an interesting story-line with flashbacks and by dwelling into the reasons behind why respectable members of the society could turn murderous. Is it for fun? Is it passion? Or is it only about some sweet revenge?
James DeMonaco had shared to an entertainment tabloid – “The one thing you really can’t do on the films is, just because of mere real estate and time, you can’t get into the nuance and complexity that would drive someone to commit a terrible act on this night. Whether it’s revenge or out of passion, but what might be interesting in a TV show is with a flashback narrative, if you start on Purge Night but you go back to show how people have gotten to where they are.”
The Purge movie series have managed to successfully gross impressive amount at the box-office and prove profitable for the production houses involved with the movie. The plan has been to go easy from the beginning. The budget is kept low and when the movie earns above $100 Million, the production houses enjoy the profits and the project is profitable and successful at the same time.
What is even more pleasing to know is that the TV series might not take as long as you would be thinking. If you are to go by the words of James DeMonaco, they are currently discussing the monetary aspects of the deal and the entire idea is being considered very seriously. In short, we are talking about the TV Series by next year itself.
It is all coming true. The Purge Is Getting Its Own TV Series and the idea to let the Americans allow to release their violent urges, will witness an all new angle through an interwoven anthology path. So what would you do if given the chance to legally unleash your violent side for just 12 hours? Would you stay in hiding or would you ‘Purge’?
Did we just tease your blood-thirsty side there?
